Five minutes with Armani

Armani tells us what his idea of hell on earth is, why Twinkle Twinkle Little Star brings back an embarrassing memory for him, what the heck hamboning is and why SpongeBob SquarePants holds a special place in his heart.

What’s your favourite day of the year? Christmas 🎄 I like all the presents and I like giving gifts. I got some great presents including a Nintendo Switch, I would say the best gift I gave was an iPhone XS. I spent this Christmas with my friends and family, we did Christmas stuff, food, music, drinking the usual.

Which fictional place would you like to go to and why? It would have to be Narnia, they’ve got everything there a talking lion, horse people. If you could imagine anything it would be there, I would be the talking Lion, because why not he does everything!

What’s your favourite film? It’s a tie between John Wick and the SpongeBob movie. John Wick has everything, violence, fight scenes, I like the action scenes they’re overly exaggerated and funny too but they’re not supposed to be funny. SpongeBob has good music and it’s actually a really funny movie, I probably watch it once a month, my favourite character is called King Neptune he’s bald. (After describing the two movies Armani realised his favourite movie was in fact SpongeBob.)

Do you have any bad habits? Yes, if I’m thinking I chew on my finger. Another one is sleeping too late if I get into bed at 11 because I have to wake up at 6 am, I still don’t go to bed till 2 am. I usually just watch stuff, play games, everything but sleeping.

What do you love doing most in your free time? I like making things, I draw and make video games. I programme video games the last one I made was an RPG role playing game. I like going to the cinema, the arcade, drinking with my friends, and basically, anything that’s competitive I’ll enjoy 💪.

What’s your idea of hell? People starving is hell, if all the internet broke down that would be hell. If I was trapped in a room where there were lots of Red Ants I would just cry 😭 and I don’t like heights so if I was on a rollercoaster and it just stopped at the top I would just break down 😱. I’m afraid of the abyss in the ocean because no one knows what is there, if all those things came out I can’t even imagine how scary that would be. The deeper you go down the uglier the fish get, like the Anglerfish that has a light on its head because it’s so dark down there.

If you could choose four celebrities to have at a dinner party with you who would they be? Stephen Hillenburg, he made SpongeBob and I love SpongeBob ❤️. Kanye West he would just be funny I don’t think he knows what he’s saying, he just says stuff for the sake of saying stuff, I’d get a good laugh out of it. Lil Uzi Vert, he makes good music and is a bit crazy so he’d work well with Kanye West at the table. My last person would be Satoshi Tajiri he made Pokemon so he’s cool.

What is the best thing about working at Ocasta? I like the atmosphere it’s chilled and relaxed. It’s not military like, which you find when you go to other places they’re dead silent and no one says a word to each other. I like the socials, the game night is my favourite as I like playing video games and Fika is really good as it’s a nice way to break the day up.

What’s the most embarrassing thing that’s ever happened to you? Back when I was in primary school year five or six I used to play the clarinet. I had to perform Twinkle Twinkle Little Star in front of the whole school and I just couldn’t do it. It started off ok, but then the clarinet went (insert high pitched squeak made by Armani 🙉) so I froze and just stood there, in the end, I just walked off stage, everyone was like come back come back, to get to this level you have to never give up but I just couldn’t do it 😬.

What’s the craziest thing that’s ever happened to you? I got really lucky once! I was walking down the street and I found one hundred pounds 💰! There were two twenty pound notes and further down the road there were another three twenty pound notes. I have never found any money on the floor since.

Is there anything you wish you were good at but you’re not? There’s this thing called hamboning where you make loads of noise with your body. I find it the coolest thing, I really want to learn it, I think I found it because it was in the SpongeBob movie.

What do you want to have done by the time you’re retired? I must have mastered the art of hamboning, I want to learn piano and guitar. I want to go mountain climbing or do some kind of pilgrimage to nowhere, where you’re just there on a mountain, on a journey and you don’t know where you’re going. I would like to go spearfishing, do a bit graffiti, and fly a plane. I’ve always been curious to see if I won the Lottery how much would I have to spend on Lottery tickets to win again. But in reality, I would probably just spend all the money (not on Lottery tickets).

Do you collect anything?  I do, I collect trading cards loads of different ones at the moment. I collect Pokemon cards and Final Fantasy cards. I’ve been collecting them for years, I think I started back in middle school 13 years ago!
