Case-based learning platform receives funding to transform medical learning across the world
During the pandemic, there was a surge in demand for remote based learning tools in the medical sector. The Medical Schools Council became aware of this mounting issue and decided to take action with CAPSULE, the UK’s leading case-based learning platform. They licenced it to all medical schools in the UK making it accessible at a time when it was needed the most. The medical learning platform was created by Ocasta with Brighton and Sussex Medical School with the platform now being used by 30,000 medical students across the UK.
Following this huge success, the platform was then recognised by the government’s innovation agency. They were looking for products or services which drove innovation and sustainability throughout the pandemic. Innovate UK funded over £130,000 to CAPSULE to drive the development of the sought after platform.
Innovate UK Executive Chair Dr Ian Campbell said:
“In these difficult times, we have seen the best of British business innovation. The pandemic is not just a health emergency but one that impacts society and the economy. CAPSULE, along with every initiative Innovate UK has supported through this fund, is an important step forward in driving sustainable economic development. Each one is also helping to realise the ambitions of hard-working people.”
The funding will be used to support the global deployment of the case-based medical learning app and enhance its existing functionality. We will do this by making the platform more scalable, improving the signup process, and promoting the strengths and capabilities of the UK medical education sector. We aim to showcase the skills of UK medical schools and their leading educational capabilities and approach to medical learning across the world.
