Steve takes us on a journey down the west coast of India, tells us why he would love to be an amateur in music production and why he may take on the challenge of public speaking.
If you had to listen to one genre of music for the rest of your life, what would it be? Oh that’s a very hard question! I’m notoriously bad at sticking to one kind of music, I tend to flick through lots. I would rather not listen to anything than try to pick one. That’s why I like Spotify, as I can explore and find any kind; sort of like when you explore YouTube and end up in strange places. I’ve weirdly got more into podcasts than music at the moment.
Where would you like to go in the world but have never been? I would really like to go to Japan. When travelling alone I like to go to places where I feel a bit lost. Japan seems like you could feel totally lost and it would be very different to England ๐ฏ๐ต I would like to go to South America; I’ve been to Mexico but would like to explore a bit more.
What do you like about working at Ocasta? Everyone says it, but it is the nice laid back feeling. I think because in some offices it can be quite oppressive. Ocasta is the opposite and it’s a really good group of people.
Is there a talent you wish you had but donโt? I would like to learn music production because it’s creative, and I’m a creative person ๐ผ I would like to do something and be amateur, rather than be paid and have to be good at it. When learning something new, you can do it for the joy of it. Most of my life I’ve done visually creative work, so would like to do music and if it’s rubbish, just do it to please myself. It all ties into being a tech nerd I suppose, which is me ๐ค
Is there anything you wish you had more time to do? I would love to be able to travel with my family, and that’s difficult because of school holidays and jobs, but it would be good to show the kids the world a bit ๐
Do you prefer breakfast, lunch or dinner? I’m definitely a dinner person as I quite like cooking ๐จโ๐ณ You don’t often get time to do cooking at lunch; I find it relaxing and it helps me wind down at the end of the day. It’s nice to do something manual, away from the computer. I’m pretty good at cooking curry from scratch ๐
Whereโs the best place youโve been on holiday? I really enjoyed Thailand, but I’ve been too many times to call it my favourite. My last solo adventure was to India, that was really good. I went down the entire west coast of India; Mumbai down to Kerala and did it all by train ๐ it took me about a month. That was a few years ago, before I had kids; The trains are crazy there are no doors, bars for windows and people were selling chai tea. It was amazing and it felt like the train was part of the whole experience. Luckily I didn’t get a dodgy tummy the whole time I was there ๐คข
