Five minutes with Alamsher

In this five-minute catch-up with Alamsher, we explore his fictional dinner guests to his dream superpowers 🦸🏽‍♂️. From his favourite TV shows to his love-hate relationship with chocolate-flavoured treats 🍫.

If you could have dinner with any fictional character, who would it be and why?

Recently, I've been watching Doctor Who, so dining with the Doctor would be fascinating. Also, being a Marvel fan, any of the Avengers would be great.

What's your go-to karaoke song 🎤 when you want to impress the crowd?

I've never been to karaoke, although during my university days, people would always ask me to go, but I never did.

If you were an ice cream flavour, what would you be and why? 🍦

My favourite flavour is vanilla, but I would end up eating myself if I went for that, so I'd go for chocolate, something I don't like. Sidenote: Alamsher doesn’t think anything should be chocolate-flavoured, and that you should only have real chocolate. So no chocolate cake or ice cream 🍫.

What's the most interesting or unusual job you've ever had or heard of?

I haven’t had that many jobs, before my current role, I worked as a PHP developer and had a stint in customer support. I’ve never heard of any either, maybe I don’t know enough interesting people 🤷‍♀️.

If you could be any animal for a day, which one would you choose and why?

I'd like to be an eagle 🦅, flying through the skies and seeing the world as they do. Interestingly, my hometown, Sargodha, is known as the city of eagles due to the nearby airbase.

What's the weirdest food combination you enjoy that others might find strange?

I'm not adventurous with food, I stick to Pakistani cuisine. English dishes didn't appeal to me, I found them tasteless. I stick to cooking biryani and chicken rice but this year I want to try and make chicken masala, and roti.

If you could time travel to any era, past or future, where would you go and what would you do?

I'd go back to a time right before the stock market was going to peak and invest all of my money 🤑or back to a time right before GameStop exploded in 2019.

What's your favourite childhood cartoon or TV show that you still secretly love?

I don’t really. I never watch cartoons anymore but I did recently rediscover the cartoon version of Justice League on Netflix. It's a favourite that I've added to my watchlist 👀.

If you were given a million pounds but had to spend it all in one day, what would you buy?

I'd invest in a large house and a smaller one for rental income 🏡. Previously, I became fascinated with living in a castle 🏰 but they cost a lot more than 1 million pounds.

What's the most embarrassing or funny thing that has happened to you recently?

During a recent visit to Pakistan, I accidentally skipped a queue and had to backtrack after someone pointed it out 🫠.

If you were a superhero, what would your superpower be and what would your superhero name be?

I'd love the power to fly, super strength, and speed like the Flash. I could clean in seconds, fly wherever I wanted, and I’d never be scared of criminals. I wouldn't change my name though.

What's the last thing you binge-watched?

Currently, I’m rewatching The Office for the fifth time. It’s easy to watch and funny 😆.

If you could have a national holiday, what would it be called and how would people celebrate it?

I'd have "Pyjama Day," celebrating the comfort of lounging in pyjamas. You could even go to the shops in your pyjamas. I just love pyjamas and how comfy they are. (There is already a national Pyjama day).

What do you love most about working at Ocasta?

I really like the people at Ocasta; everyone has been so welcoming. I also love working from home because I can wear my pyjamas whenever I want.

If you could have any talent instantly, like a skill download, what would you choose and why?

I'd choose to be an expert in CakePHP. It would make my job SO much easier.
