Five minutes with Alexandra

Find out which movie Alexandra has watched 30 times! Why she wants to go to Romania this year and what cute animals she loves to collect.

What’s your favourite movie?

My favourite movie is definitely the Social Network 🎬. Obviously, it’s about Facebook but I think it’s so much more than that. I really connected with the friendships in the movie and liked the chemistry between the characters. It really resonated with me because it was about a friendship breaking down and that was happening to me at that particular time in my life too. I’ve watched it 30 times!

Do you have any pets?

Yes, I have three rescue dogs called Mia, Remy and Lola. They all live back home in Romania. We also have stray cats who come to my parent’s garden and we feed them. My dad has even built a cat hotel for them 😻 🏩. I would say I prefer dogs as a pet as they are more loyal.

What’s your ideal holiday destination?

Well at the moment with all the travel restrictions happening, my ideal destination would be to go home to Romania. I’m from a city called Craiova. I moved to the UK last summer with my boyfriend. I really enjoy living over here and love the nature and wildlife 🦌 🌳. We don’t get to see much of that in the city where I am from.

What’s your best talent?

I would probably say it’s drawing and painting 🎨. I used to paint Christmas decorations and sell them at a fair where I used to work. I also used to paint my bedroom back home. It would be covered in everything from TV shows, dragons and villains.

What plans do you have this weekend?

I’m going to play tennis with my boyfriend 🎾. He’s a cybersecurity analyst and he’s on call this weekend so he needs to stay near the house. I’m actually pretty good at tennis. I’ve been playing since I was a kid as I’ve always been very sporty.

What do you like most about working at Ocasta?

The people. I know everyone says that but it’s true. Everyone is so nice, outgoing and helpful and they make it a really nice place to work. I never feel stressed out and it’s a pleasure to work here.

What is the best thing that’s happened to you this year?

Finding my inner peace 🧘‍♀️. When I first moved here I was very stressed out and panicky. I was missing my family and friends and was down for a while. But I’ve now reached a point where I feel very happy and content with everything in my life 😃.

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

It would have to be KFC. Back home in Romania, they do crispy chicken in this garlic sauce and it tastes amazing. I’ve tried to find it here in the UK but I don’t think they sell it 😢.

What did you want to be when you were growing up?

I always knew I wanted to do something computer-related. When I was a kid I was fixing my neighbour’s computers.  They would always call me to install the latest games on their computers even when I was 6 or 7 👩‍💻. Ever since my mum bought me my computer I never stayed away from it. I used to create websites for my favourite bands and TV shows. There was a big community for that, my favourite show used to be Twilight.

Do you collect anything?

I really love alpacas. I have little small ones everywhere. My friend once bought me a small plush one and ever since then I have been in love with them 💞. I have everything Alpaca related.

What three things do you think of the most each day?

I think about my friends a lot, my family and I think about how to get better at the things I do. I constantly think about what I should read and what I should do to improve 🤓. I always want to know what technology to get behind because everything is moving so fast.

What's the most interesting thing you can see out of your window right now?

Well, I live on a high street in Maidenhead and there are lots of shops which I can see. It’s interesting to see all the same people in the same spots each day. The bar just down the road has the same visitors and I can see people that come to the same spot to sing every day.
